Motor industry awards 2010

Tonight saw the annual EEF Motor Industry Manufacturing Awards being held at the prestigious Merchant Taylors Building in Central London. The awards were given by BBC’s Declan Curry and covered many sectors through out the Manufacturing Process. Tim was awarded the best professional photography for his work for client Aston Martin.

EEF is the most powerful force backing UK manufacturing. Powering its growth with potent thought leadership. Making it fit for the future be effective in the present with switched-on business services, and representing its interests at the heart of government. When manufacturing gets moving, EEF is its engine

Tim – “This is great honour and I am absolutely delighted to receive this from the Industry that we all care about so passionately within the UK. I shoot commercially for some of the very best names and traditions within the UK motor industry today such as Aston Martin, Jaguar Land Rover, and Morgan. The car industry within our country has a very recognisable past but it is what we do today that makes the biggest difference in driving to forwards into a brighter tomorrow so that the UK can remain globally one of the driving forces within the automotive industry.

I was unfortunately not able to pick up the award myself as at that time I was in the air over Germany due to work commitments however I am very grateful to Aston who sent a colleague, Brian Spearman, on my behalf to pick up the award. It is something that I am very proud to receive and is testament to not only my work but also to the whole team and my clients themselves for allowing me the opportunity and vision to capture their product in my own may to promote their brands and Inspire clients all over the world.”

Advertising Photographer of the Year Award!

Ambient Life photographer and founder Tim Wallace has today been announced as the winner of the Professional Advertising Photographer of the Year Award for 2010.

The Awards are held each year and attract entries from Professional Photographers all over the World and are broken down into individual categories such as Fashion, Product and Advertising. Tim had 4 entries submitted this year in the Advertising section and we were overjoyed to receive word this morning that Tim had won this section outright with a piece of work he shot earlier in the year featuring an Aston Martin Vantage.

Tim -”This is a fantastic honour and I can honestly say that given the high standard of work that was submitted to this category I was hoping that I would maybe get shortlisted but to win is just incredible. I feel very humbled and thankful that I work with such amazing people and clients that have the vision and open mindedness to allow me to be creative and project the World through my eyes. It is a wonderful end to 2010 and I look forward to what I hope will be another amazing year ahead as we enter 2011′.

43 Seconds – The Year that was 2010

2010 has been quite a year for us at Ambient Life and has seen photographer Tim Wallace work with some amazing clients and some amazing people, this presentation that we call 43 seconds is a short burst of just some of the work shot by Tim during 2010.

Why 43 Seconds?
The average time that a client or designer takes to decide if they like your style of work is 43 seconds, many photographers argue that it’s simply not possible to get across your message in this short amount of time. Creativity is the fundamental key to any successful commercial photography when mixed with a strongly defined shooting style. Commercially it is very important for client to choose a photographer based not only on their obvious technical ability but most importantly on their ‘style’ of work, this has been the main driving force behind all successful photographers for over 100 years and one that is just as important to day as it ever was with the age of digital technology. True creativity still exists in the capture and control of light with your subject mixed with a strong creative vision of the world.

80th Geneva Motorshow gets inspired…

This week saw the start of the prestigious and World renowned Geneva Motor Show. The show is the 80th International Motor Show from Geneva and is an international exhibition of the finest new automobiles. A vast array of car brands and new models are on show each year, many including concept cars and prototypes. This year we were very pleased to support Morgan in their launch of the new Sports Roadster and 4/4 Sports.

Ambient Life photographer Tim Wallace was approached by The Morgan Motor Company to shoot several of their models for both new brochure designs with the Aero 8, the 4/4 Sport and most exclusively the new Roadster Sport to provide high quality photography for its launch at the Geneva Show for its official launch.

Tim initially spent 3 days with Morgan to produce the work for the first shoot with Geneva firmly in mind. The shoot was split over work on site at the Morgan factory in Malvern as well as on locations in the South of England that even involved a very frosty morning in a cattle auction shed…

Over the coming months as work continues we will be sure to keep you up to date as this project develops and progresses with England’s only remaining privately owned car manufacturer as they continue to grow and go from strength to strength.

The International Geneva Motor Show (French: Salon International de l’Auto) is an annual auto show held in March in the Swiss city of Geneva. The show is hosted at the Geneva Palexpo, a convention centre located next to the Geneva Cointrin International Airport. The Salon is organised by the Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d’Automobiles, and is considered an important major international auto show.

First held in 1905, the Salon has hosted almost all major internal combustion engined models in the history of the automobile, along with benzene- and steam-powered cars from the beginning of the century. Exotic supercars often steal the spotlight during their debuts at the show. Prototypes, new equipment, technical breakthroughs, international partnerships, as well as political and social debates, have been announced at the exhibition. The show is regarded as a level playing field for the world’s automakers, aided by the fact Switzerland lacks an auto industry of its own.
