43 Seconds – The Year that was 2010

2010 has been quite a year for us at Ambient Life and has seen photographer Tim Wallace work with some amazing clients and some amazing people, this presentation that we call 43 seconds is a short burst of just some of the work shot by Tim during 2010.

Why 43 Seconds?
The average time that a client or designer takes to decide if they like your style of work is 43 seconds, many photographers argue that it’s simply not possible to get across your message in this short amount of time. Creativity is the fundamental key to any successful commercial photography when mixed with a strongly defined shooting style. Commercially it is very important for client to choose a photographer based not only on their obvious technical ability but most importantly on their ‘style’ of work, this has been the main driving force behind all successful photographers for over 100 years and one that is just as important to day as it ever was with the age of digital technology. True creativity still exists in the capture and control of light with your subject mixed with a strong creative vision of the world.

Morgan Eva GT Project

Earlier in 2010 we were lucky enough to be involved in the final review stages of the new model from Morgan, the Eva GT. The car was recently launched to the World at the infamous Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and this week commercial car photographer Tim Wallace got to grips with this radical new car from Morgan to shoot the commercial work for Morgans Eva GT marketing and brochures.

Underneath the Eva GT lies a development of the same lightweight bonded aluminium chassis you’ll find in the Aeromax Supersports, and wrapped around it are superformed aluminium body panels similar to those adopted by the aircraft industry. However, inside this new Morgan is a proper two-plus-two cabin layout making it a much more practical offering than any of the Aero-series cars that have preceeded it.

It’s intended to be capable as serving as everyday family transport as well as a luxury GT. Allowing for that extra practicality, the Eva GT is longer than the 4.2-metre Aeromax, measuring 4.7-metres in length, 1.8-metres in width and 1.2-metres tall.

Eva GT Project with Morgan

In the early part of 2010 The Morgan Motor Company came on board with Ambient Life as a new client and since then photographer Tim Wallace has produced work for this radical British car manufacturer shooting such models as the Aero 8 and the Aeromax. This week saw the embargo being lifted on Morgans new car the Eva GT. Tim has been working closely with Morgan Chief Designer Matthew Humphries over the past few months regarding the Eva GT as we work towards final shooting with the new model later this month for brochure and marketing use.

Morgan EvaGT makes use of the clever technologies that the Morgan Motor Company has developed to manufacture a lightweight car. Bonded aluminium gives rigidity to the chassis and saves weight. The chassis successfully competes in International GT3 Sports Car Racing and is compliant with European and US safety regulations.
The body of the Morgan EvaGT is made from an aircraft technology; superformed aluminium. Morgan Design understands the unique technical properties of the material and the process and have sculpted a new shape for the Morgan EvaGT. Using the latest computer technology to ensure accuracy in manufacture, the parts are then hand finished making sure they feel as good as they look. A perfect smooth “A” class surface, minimal shut lines, concealed wipers, flush door handles and sharp creases deflect air over the surface of the car. The philosophy of the car is lightweight luxury but the model also exhibits authenticity, sustainability and innovation and is made by skilled craftsmen.

Performance:
• BMW 3 litre straight six twin turbo with direct petrol injection
• 306bhp and 400nm torque
• Euro 5 and 6 compliant at 200 g / km CO2, US FMVSS, CARB and EPA approved.
• 40 m.p.g. / 7.06 litres / 100kms
• 6 speed sport automatic or 6 speed manual gearbox.
• Rear wheel drive with fully independent intelligent suspension
• Aluminium body panels
• Laminated internal safety structure.
• Predicted weight of 2755 lbs / 1250 kg
• Predicted 0-62 mph 4.5 seconds/ 0-100 km / h 4.5 seconds
• Predicted top speed 170 mph / 273 km / h
