FujiHolics UK Seminars Announced

We are thrilled to announce a new suite of UK based seminars from Commercial Photographer Tim Wallace sponsored through our friends at FujiHolics UK
In 2016 Tim held a number of training seminars with FujiHolics and these were very well received indeed by all that attended. Tim normally talks in the US at events such as Photoshop World in Florida but was really keen to return on to the FujiHolics team for 2017 to hold a further suite of training workshops and seminars that cover such subjects as lighting, post edit work and also commercial business advice and that would all be based in the UK.

Work Smart Portfolio | Masterclass | Tim Wallace

This class is based around how you effectively put together a body of work to approach the market professionally. It will take an in-depth look at what it really takes to build and effective portfolio. How we do that and the choices and decisions that we have to make along that journey as well as how that is presented, where that is presented and how to make it work for you better than just a collection of your best images. This is not just a talk about ‘portfolio’s’ this is a seminar on how to not only create that but also how you then use that to gain commissions. The session will also talk about licensing and copyright. Many people are really unaware of this and it is a crucial element to understand as a working professional in the commercial sectors.

Sat 29 July 2017
Location – Wilkinson Cameras Liverpool

Lighting Class | Tim Wallace
FujiHolics Seminar Booking Link

This class is firmly aimed at those that perhaps are not totally sure of how to achieve the images that they practising shooting as well as those that would just like some good advice on which equipment could be best for them for what they would like to shoot. The class will cover a whole broad range of subjects from equipment to how we can work with light and make it do what we want it to do so that we can create great images and build up on those lessons learned and grow as photographers.
All levels are welcome and no question is too silly in this class that Tim has specifically put together so that he can help share his knowledge of light and build an awareness for those attending that if we really start to ‘understand’ light then we often find that lighting, good lighting, is not really as difficult as we may have first thought.

Fri 29 September 2017
Location – Amersham Studios, HP6 6EJ
Time: 10:00 to 15:00
Its Personal – Commercial Talk | Tim Wallace

The seminar will help you to look at how to start making the right informed choices, the questions that you need to ask yourself, and how to set a clear vision for your own path to success rather than just ‘hope’ things work out for you. You will learn how to think laterally about your brand and direction, style of work and industry sector and how those differ and demand different approaches. Tim will look at how to approach agencies and how to effectively make those first steps and approaches to clients. And most of all and utterly crucially it will be about understanding your position better within the field and how to put yourself and your work across in such a way that your clients understand your benefits to them and not just that you can take nice pictures. It is about becoming a monster in your industry and creating a need for what you do and not just sitting there and waiting for the phone to ring.

RAW imagination – Photoshop Class | Tim Wallace
FujiHolics Seminar Booking Link

In this workshop Tim will be working through different PS based controls that he uses in his own personal retouching.
We will be looking at tone, its importance, as well as contrast, and colour.
The importance of having a final image and style in mind and how we approach that as well as how Tim use’s PS in his own personal way as digital darkroom drawing on his knowledge and past experience as a film and photographic printer.
How do we build and create a commercial image, what is important to remember, what tools are there that can help us with our work and how do we make sense of things so that we can take consistent steps forward.
We will look at clipping paths, their importance as well as blending effectively and the importance of understanding colour and contrast. What we do in PS starts when we are stood behind the camera before we even make a capture so understanding where we intend to take this in the processing stage means that we can shoot more efficiently and with better results.

Marine boat and yacht photography

Project Genevieve
N39° 33′ 47 W2° 20′ 43 off the coast of Palma was the central location recently for commercial photographer Tim Wallace as he worked with a team to complete a commercial shoot of the luxury yacht ‘Genevieve’ for our yacht charter client based in New York.

In the new build sector of the super yacht market, there will always be big personalities, visionaries setting out to push the envelope and make a dramatic statement. Photographer Tim Wallace was recently asked to work with a global company who is the top savvy brand behind this market in a new venture to shoot there latest offering ‘Genevieve’ with his strong dramatic style of photography capture.

The company approached Commercial Photographer Tim Wallace with a desire to have their product shot in Tim’s style using both technical still, medium format high end quality and most importantly ‘passion’. Initial the interior work had already been completed and Tim along with a crew of support staff including staff from Hasselblad met with the boat in Palma a few weeks ago to board equipment and sail to the shoot location off Dragonera Island.

Marine boat and yacht photography

Tim – “Its was an exciting project and one that in truth has been on the table being discussed through their New York office now for nearly a year. I’m no stranger to shooting prestige modes of transport and I guess I’m best known for my work in the car industry but this project really offers massive scope to ‘get dramatic’ and to some degree I feel like we have a blank canvas to fill which was certainly a challenge but one that both myself and the team were very devoted to. I’ll worked closely with Hasselblad and the support crew to shoot this stunning ship for a marketing campaign that will hopefully not only raise the brand for our client but also offer a new vision for what it possible in the world of yacht and boat photography. I’m hoping that I have managed to inject some real passion into the project with photography that has not been seen before. I think some of the team were a little anxious of my plans to hang out of helicopters at dawn but after numerous meetings to discuss equipment needs and logistics we saw a very busy but productive 2 days shooting. Trying to plan out lighting and requirements for setups was a challenge and we had 8 lights on the boat and others in support boats to each side while I shot quite literally out of a Helicopter, which is fun to say the least.

Marine boat and yacht photography

Has it been easy, well in truth the logistics of a shoot like this never are, the amount of equipment required, insurance, the sheer fact that your dealing with a ship that costs out at £1m per metre not to mention the hire and set up for 2 helicopters and multiple RIB fast boats for lighting etc. It’s been a great project and I’m looking forward to doing further work in the yacht sector in the future.
