This week saw commercial photographer Tim Wallace working with one of our long standing clients ‘NFT’ to create new work for marketing, brochure and corporate use.
NFT are currently in the process of having a purpose built facility constructed at The Port of London, Tilbury and Tim has been working with NFT to create some photography that captures their presence and operation at the port and places their branding inline with that of the port in a dynamic style.

AmbientLife have been producing commercial and corporate photography for NFT for over 5 years and they are one of our valued clients in the UK.
Initially Tim was approached by NFT when they were looking to build on their corporate image library, making changes to their content so that it reflected a more dynamic and high end feel to their imagery for use both in corporate advertising as well as at a point where the company were going through some changes to both rebrand the vehicle livery and also launch a new commercial website. With a fresh and high quality library of commercial photography the company was able to feed their advertising and marketing with new dynamic photography that stood out as well as utilising it for such items and customer calendars and as framed art work around all their UK sites.
We have been successfully working with them through out their business growth over recent years and as well as creating vehicle photography we have also been heavily involved to projects to capture their operation. This is something that we often find goes hand in hand with the truck or commercial vehicle photography when a client is seeking to build a strong brand image library and this is something that we have great experience in. This can involve warehouse, depot or operational line work and all of these Tim approaches in the same way, first understanding the requirements and then working with the clients marketing team to formulate a ‘brief’ or shooting list of whats required and how that can be achieved. We are very aware that halting work in an operational area or taking tractor units out of the operation, even briefly, can have a cost implication for our clients so we invest time to ensure that the imagery required is achieved with the minimum impact to the business operation. In many cases this is where working with a ‘experienced’ commercial photographer with knowledge in an industry really can make a substantial difference, not only to the actual quality of the photography itself.

NFT Distribution provides Primary and Secondary Chilled Distribution services to all major retailers and manufacturers through their transport, warehousing and logistics solutions and is a specialist in both chilled and fresh food, although they also deal with ambient, frozen and grocery goods. When a food item has a short shelf life, it has to get from the factory and into the store in the shortest possible time, so that the consumer is able to enjoy it at its best.
NFT estimate that there’s a one in three chance that the fresh chilled food item you have just purchased from the supermarket will have travelled on an NFT truck at some point in its life. To illustrate the tight timescales that NFT are working to, think about that freshly made sandwich you just purchased from a leading supermarket. It’s possible that your sandwich only came off the production line around 14 hours ago, and since then has been wrapped and boxed, has been collected by NFT and brought into one of the NFT depots, where it has been consolidated with other products and delivered to a regional distribution centre. There, it was ‘picked’ for that particular store, and subsequently delivered, unpackaged, put onto the shelf.

Tim – “The Tilbury project was a massive undertaking from a logistical and photographic point of view and its one of those shoots where planning and preperation are very much the key. I did a recce of the London Port of Tilbury a few weeks before the shoot meeting with the Port management team to look at possible locations that were usable for our purposes and also most importantly looking at access and the actual working area’s and how they operate. In a busy port such as Tilbury there is a vast amount of activity when a ship berths with its cargo containers and whilst having this as a backdrop is great visually it also brings its own issues from a health and safety point of view with a lot less space to operate and shoot than you might think. The shoot was planned out and we completed that this week for our client who will now be using this photography to promote their new Tilbury presence through their marketing and corporate outputs.”
